FTI Consulting Appoints Brian Kennedy as Head of the Americas for the Strategic Communications Segment
Washington, D.C., Nov. 6, 2017 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:FCN) today announced the appointment of Brian Kennedy as Head of the Americas for its Strategic Communications segment, effective January 1, 2018. Mr. Kennedy will succeed Mark McCall, who will assume the role of Global Segment Leader for Strategic Communications at that time.
As the segment’s Head of the Americas, Mr. Kennedy will provide direction and leadership to the organization, helping to ensure that the segment’s vision, strategy and operational goals are realized while overseeing growth and development in the hemisphere. He will also lead the firm’s go-to-market strategy in the region and support client development globally by working closely with other regional leaders and practitioners from the firm’s other segments.
“Brian’s reputation as an industry expert and trusted advisor to his clients is well known,” said Mr. McCall. “At the same time, he is also one of our firm’s most talented team leaders, and I am confident that the consulting expertise and business acumen he has demonstrated in developing our energy practice will serve our firm and our clients well when he assumes this broader role.”
Mr. McCall added: “As I prepare to step into my new role and Brian into his, I believe our business is as well positioned as it has ever been to grow, strengthen and continue to attract the best talent the market has to offer in service of the critical and high-stakes work we do for our clients.”
Mr. Kennedy joined FTI Consulting in 2008, assumed the role of Americas Head of Energy & Natural Resources in 2009 and was elevated to Global Head of Energy & Natural Resources within the Strategic Communications segment in 2012. He and his team have helped develop and significantly expand FTI Consulting’s market leadership in the sector, facilitating its entry into new markets both domestically and around the world. FTI Consulting advises energy companies facing complex communications challenges associated with financial and operational crises, investigations, major litigation, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder activism, and legislative and regulatory threats.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Kennedy said, “Companies operating in highly regulated industries increasingly are placing a premium on working with consultants who have hands-on industry experience and deep subject-matter expertise when it comes to solving complex business challenges. That’s the profile around which we’ve built our team, and I’m eager to continue building upon and enhancing this clear differentiator for our firm in the Americas.”
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Kennedy served in a variety of communications and public policy roles in Congress, including press secretary for the then-Republican Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. John A. Boehner; Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Communications for the House Committee on Natural Resources; and Chief Spokesman for the Speaker’s Task Force for Affordable Natural Gas.
Chris Tucker will succeed Mr. Kennedy as the segment’s Global Head of Energy & Natural Resources. A Senior Managing Director based in Washington, D.C., Mr. Tucker was recruited to the firm nearly nine years ago by Mr. Kennedy to help establish the firm’s U.S. energy sector team. He will be responsible for further evolving the sector’s market-facing offering, ensuring continued excellence in client-service delivery, and leveraging opportunities across the firm for the benefit of new and existing clients. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Tucker served on Capitol Hill as a communications and energy advisor to several members of Congress and House Republican leadership offices. A native of Trucksville, Pa., Mr. Tucker earned his bachelor’s from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
“Chris brings a lot of talent, energy and deep sector-expertise to the job, in addition to having a great eye for identifying and attracting the best practitioners our business has to offer,” said Mr. Kennedy. “His ascension to this role will help enhance the level of service we provide to our clients and strengthen our broader offering around the world.”
