FTI Consulting Expands Information Governance & Compliance Services Practice
Experts to Offer Practical Solutions for Reducing the Costs and Risks of Enterprise Data
Washington, D.C., Jan. 18, 2017 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced the Company’s Technology segment continues to expand its Information Governance & Compliance Services (“IG&CS”) practice with the appointment of two consultants.
Bringing expertise from his previous role at IBM, Ted Barassi joins as a Managing Director in Washington, D.C. T. Sean Kelly, most recently of Johnson & Johnson’s e-discovery group, joins as a Senior Director in Philadelphia. Mr. Barassi and Mr. Kelly will help corporations address a wide variety of information governance challenges, from safely migrating to Microsoft Office 365 to implementing new legal hold systems and remediating old data archives.
Mr. Barassi has extensive experience managing pretrial litigation and e-discovery as an in-house practitioner and has worked with email archiving and e-discovery technologies in various industries and geographies for more than 10 years. At FTI Consulting, he will drive strategy and information governance planning for clients facing a range of challenges, including civil litigation, civil compliance and regulatory response. During his time at IBM, Mr. Barassi worked with large, multinational corporations in highly regulated industries to provide consulting on information governance, including unstructured data archiving, e-discovery and data retention and disposition.
Mr. Kelly brings more than a decade of experience in both legal technology and litigation support, and expertise in collection best practices, forensic technology, document review and production and e-discovery cost containment. At Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Kelly defined discovery solutions for evolving technologies including cloud-based repositories, dynamic social media platforms and the shifting landscape associated with cross-border transactions. He has managed projects of varying scope and size, including product liability litigation, internal and compliance investigations, complex commercial litigation and governmental agency inquiries. As part of FTI’s IG&CS team, he will advise clients on proactive strategies that expedite early case assessment, ensure budget efficiency and e-discovery defensibility and achieve strategic organizational communications for legal and compliance matters.
“Information governance programs give corporations the ability to achieve tangible benefits that impact a wide range of stakeholders and groups. While awareness around the importance of these initiatives is growing, we’re seeing that most organizations need expert guidance on how to get started and execute,” said Jake Frazier, a Senior Managing Director and Leader of the IG&CS practice at FTI Consulting. “Our services are designed to help clients get the most out of their efforts, so their information governance investments can do more than secure data by also reducing costs, increasing productivity and enabling faster access to important information. Ted and Sean are strong additions, with extensive in-house experience, who can uniquely relate to the pain points our clients face and help us build on the momentum of this practice.”
FTI Technology’s IG&CS offerings are flexible and can range from a single short-term project to a complete transformational service with ongoing monitoring. The offerings address key corporate data challenges with safety and defensibility by mining, storing, migrating and disposing of corporate data, as well as designing and implementing defensible e-discovery and information governance policies that are cost-effective and do not disrupt business operations.
