US Cyber Incident Response Director Joins FTI Consulting

U.S. Cyber Incident Response Director and FBI Cyber Leader Joins FTI Consulting

Anthony J. Ferrante Brings Experience in Government and Law Enforcement Operations to Assist Clients with Cyber Resilience and Response

WASHINGTON, April 18, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:FCN) today announced that Anthony J. Ferrante, former Director for Cyber Incident Response at the U.S. National Security Council and Supervisory Special Agent at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has joined the firm’s Global Risk & Investigations Practice within its Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment as a Senior Managing Director.

Mr. Ferrante, who will be based in Washington, D.C., served as a senior cybersecurity advisor to the Trump and Obama administrations and coordinated U.S. response to unfolding domestic and international cybersecurity crises and issues. Building on his extensive cybersecurity and incident response experience, he led the development and implementation of Presidential Policy Directive 41 – United States Cyber Incident Coordination, the federal government’s national policy guiding cyber incident response efforts.

At FTI Consulting, Mr. Ferrante will lead an integrated investigative team tasked with assisting clients with cyber resilience, response and remediation services, including the auditing and enhancement of network defenses and controls, penetration testing, hunt team operations, incident response and investigations and remediating system vulnerabilities and building networks. Mr. Ferrante will work closely with clients to ensure their cybersecurity approach is consistent with regulatory guidance and represents best practice.

Mr. Ferrante bolsters FTI Consulting’s existing cybersecurity offerings, which include system architecture, system design, privacy notifications and programs, IT strategy, governance, program assessment and data security.

“Anthony is an established leader who has managed and directed complex responses to domestic and international threats,” said Neal Hochberg, Global Leader of the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment at FTI Consulting. “Corporations are facing more pressure to address cyber threats, and Anthony’s experience at the highest levels of government and law enforcement expands and deepens FTI Consulting’s ability to help organizations navigate the issues they face when responding to attacks and ensuring the safety of their systems and networks.”

The addition of Mr. Ferrante comes as senior corporate executives place increasing importance on cyber risk. According to a recent FTI Consulting-sponsored survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit, 53 percent of executives surveyed said cyber-attacks had the greatest impact on their firms’ reputations, and 36 percent said cyber risks will influence corporate crises over the next three years, more than political disruption, income inequality or civil disruption, among others.

“We live in an interconnected world where we witness the development of technology at an exponential pace, enabling the globalization of business operations and ushering in the concomitant risks of these opportunities,” Mr. Ferrante said. “As the digital landscape and associated threats continue to evolve, I am excited to work with a talented team of experts to tackle the most malicious cybersecurity threats. My experience in incident response and preparedness planning will maximize client resilience, and FTI Consulting’s capacity, to address these complex problems.”

Before joining the National Security Council in 2015, Mr. Ferrante was Chief of Staff of the FBI’s Cyber Division, where he oversaw strategic and operational planning for the FBI’s national cyber program. He joined the FBI as a special agent in 2005, assigned to the FBI’s New York Field Office, and immediately began working criminal and national security cyber threats. In 2006, Mr. Ferrante was selected as a member of the FBI’s Cyber Action Team, a fly-team of experts who deploy globally to respond to the most critical cyber incidents on behalf of the U.S. government.

Mr. Ferrante is an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, where he serves as the co-director of its cybersecurity research program. In 2007, Mr. Ferrante founded the International Conference on Cyber Security. Mr. Ferrante holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Computer Science from Fordham University.
