Learning and Development

FTI believes that its best investment is its people. In that regard, we promote your career path through a variety of learning and development programs. We help our employees achieve success for themselves, our clients, and FTI. To do this, we offer both company-wide and individualized training programs.

FTI offers employees various comprehensive and engaging learning programs during advancement milestones, annual/bi-annual industry conferences, and line-of-service conferences. These company-wide programs are opportunities for you to learn valuable skills from FTI management personnel.  You are also given the opportunity to extensively network with colleagues, and in some cases, interact directly with FTI leadership personnel.  Below are summaries of a few of these programs:

  • New Director School – This action-packed course is designed to provide the opportunity for recently promoted directors to gain an understanding of their new role within the FTI culture, and enhance leadership, managerial, and client interaction skills to enable participants to realize their full potential.
  • Leadership Forum – Directors and Managing Directors are nominated to participate in this valuable series.  Each of four sessions focuses on the following essential elements: exposure to external business and thought leadership; discussions on FTI’s strategy by focusing on understanding our global business priorities; skill clinics that focus on developing leadership competencies such as presence, business development, strategic thinking and leading teams; and opportunities to build relationships/networks.  The forum effectively prepares participants to grow and progress as leaders in the company.

Another example of a company-wide program is Quick Pitch.  Quick Pitch is a web-based seminar that provides the opportunity for FTI management to promote segment service offerings to the broader FTI network.  The goal of Quick Pitch is to inform and update all FTI professionals on our many service offerings and increase the ability to serve and refer our clients across segments.

In addition to company-wide training, FTI utilizes a well-managed combination of instructor-led and online training courses geared towards individual job functions.  These courses expand upon on-the-job experience and enable our employees to develop skills that help them grow personally and professionally.  By taking these courses, our employees obtain valuable knowledge and skills that can also be used towards obtaining and/or maintaining industry-recognized certifications.  In some cases, we bring outside vendors to FTI who then perform specific training for individuals and/or groups based on target areas.  The expertise passed on to our employees at these training sessions help to strengthen the subject area in need, allowing our employees to utilize the knowledge gained for both current and future engagements at FTI.

“I advise anyone considering a career in consulting to choose carefully where they accept employment.  Choose an office where the managers will respect your opinion and ask for your input.  The support and training I have received from my leaders at FTI has been invaluable to my career.”
