Dr. Attiyeh’s telecom restructuring and due diligence experience includes creditor- and debtor-side engagements for numerous local exchange providers (CLECs/ILECs), regional wireless companies and long distance companies. In addition, Dr. Attiyeh has performed liquidation valuations for several CLECs and fixed wireless and long distance providers. He has also performed due diligence of various telecoms in support of potential investments and transactions.
Dr. Attiyeh has significant international telecom experience, including valuation, financial due diligence and restructuring for multiple cellular carriers in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and the EMEA as well as for a Wi-Fi company in Brazil. Other international engagements include due diligence and restructuring for an undersea cable provider in Hong Kong; development of business plans for ISP startup ventures in Peru, Argentina, and Ecuador; and spectrum bidding strategy and auction tracking support for a cellular provider in Mexico and a fixed wireless provider in Canada.
Dr. Attiyeh’s litigation experience at FTI includes financial damages and valuation for wireless, broadband internet and long distance providers. Prior to joining FTI, Dr. Attiyeh was a senior economist in the telecom practice of the Law and Economics Consulting Group (LECG), providing regulatory and litigation support services for telecommunications companies and spectrum auction bidding strategy for wireless carriers. Dr. Attiyeh managed case work and the preparation of economic expert witness testimony supporting regional Bell entry into long distance, rate cases, interconnection arbitration proceedings and cost dockets.
Prior to LECG, Dr. Attiyeh focused on demand forecasting and database marketing as a senior analyst at Bell Labs and in the consumer long distance division of AT&T. Responsibilities at AT&T’s consumer long distance division included evaluation and forecasting to support customer acquisition strategy and statistical modeling of customer churn and response to marketing initiatives.
Dr. Attiyeh holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Arizona, a M.S. in engineering economic systems from Stanford University and a B.A. in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles.
