Mr. Gravel is a senior managing director in the FTI Consulting Forensic Litigation and Consulting practice and heads FTI Consulting’s Forensic History and Analysis group. He is based in the Washington DC area.
Experience
Mr. Gravel's primary areas of expertise include forensic history and environmental cost analysis. His environmental projects have dealt with numerous CERCLA, RCRA and Toxic Tort-related issues such as past industrial waste generation and disposal analysis; environmental liability estimation; waste-in database development and cost allocation analysis; environmental response cost claim package development and/or validation; recovery of costs under CERCLA; compliance with the National Contingency Plan (“NCP”); Natural Resource Damages (“NRD”) baseline investigations and claims analysis; mergers and acquisitions due diligence analysis; Potentially Responsible Party (“PRP”) identification; corporate succession and asset searches; land use and business operation histories; insurance investigations and government involvement studies.
Of particular relevance to this assignment is Mr. Gravel’s experience working on a number of matters involving primary and secondary zinc smelter operations. He has managed teams of professionals and directed the execution of PRP investigations, operations histories, facility pollution profile studies, cost allocation studies and documentation alternate causation. Mr. Gravel has provided expert testimony on horizontal and vertical retort zinc smelter operations and has made PRP investigations and cost allocation presentations to regulators including USEPA relating to zinc smelters. Mr. Gravel has also managed the execution of projects requiring out-sourced accounting for multi-party sites and has overseen the preparation of, and provided associated testimony relating to the development of cost packages supporting cost recovery efforts.
Mr. Gravel holds a B.S. from Springfield College and a Masters Degree in international business management from the University of Maryland. Mr. Gravel has over eighteen years combined experience as a consulting expert and expert witness. Mr. Gravel has managed the execution of numerous environmental, products liability, and litigation support projects. He has provided testimony in both the expert and 30(b)(6) contexts.
