David Grant is a senior managing director in the FTI Technology practice and is based in New York. Mr. Grant focuses on discovery readiness projects involving proactive planning for ongoing litigation needs, and on planning and managing discovery strategies for and across major litigations involving large data volumes, tight deadlines and international data collection. His understanding of both the substantive client goals as well as the technical side of discovery enables him to provide experienced strategic leadership in complex litigation matters and provides a sound foundation for electronic discovery readiness projects.

Mr. Grant has been involved in the legal industry for 15 years and joined FTI through its acquisition of Strategic Discovery (a leader in the litigation discovery industry with innovative, comprehensive approaches to paper and electronic discovery as well as records management).

Mr. Grant has worked on a wide range of matters including multiple Hart-Scott-Rodino second requests, international cartel investigations, Securities class actions, large-scale commercial litigation and a number of product liability MDLs. As an example, he played key roles in the electronic discovery processes attendant the HP/Compaq and Oracle/PeopleSoft mergers, managing the combined resources of the corporations, law firms, subcontractors and multiple processing vendors to assure timely completion of the projects. Mr. Grant currently manages the team assisting a major automotive company facing multiple product liability litigations and investigations with many millions of pages under review.

Mr. Grant has led international best practices engagements assessing the technology, human and physical resources for electronic discovery of large law firms, suggesting ways in which these firms could further excel and laying the foundation for dramatic improvements in profitability and associate satisfaction.

Prior to his work with Strategic Discovery, Mr. Grant worked as a paralegal and then as a Litigation Support Analyst in Washington, D.C. and New York City with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. He focused on major antitrust and commercial litigation cases with heavy discovery requirements, and was responsible for planning and strategy assistance for electronic discovery and trial preparation for litigation teams. During the life of such cases, Mr. Grant managed vendor relationships, helped ensure the quality of vendor deliverables and supervised progress on the cases to meet difficult discovery deadlines. He also assisted in the design and administration of discovery databases and case management applications. He has experience with the major litigation support applications and discovery tools. Mr. Grant clerked for Freehill, Hollingdale and Page and for the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office.

Mr. Grant graduated with Honors 1st Class from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia with a major in Politics and Philosophy from the University of New South Wales Arts faculty and a major in Law from the University of New South Wales Law School.
