Lauren Thompson is a managing director of the FTI Strategic Communications practice and is based in Sydney.
Experience
She joined Third Person Communications in 2003 and, under FTI Consulting, she now runs the practice’s Australian team. Ms. Thompson specialises in capital markets communication, corporate financial communication and media strategy and has worked on some of the firm’s major corporate finance projects.
Ms Thompson’s major clients have included Australian listed companies such as Woolworths Limited, Brambles Limited and Leighton Holdings and offshore corporates including Staples Inc, SABMiller plc and Brookfield Asset Management. Ms Thompson has also managed media and communications for private equity acquisitions totalling over A$7 billion in enterprise value.
Recent projects have included:
- SABMiller plc’s offer to acquire Foster’s Group Limited, valuing the company at $11.2 billion in enterprise value
- Hanlong Mining’s proposed A$1.4 billion offer for ASX-listed iron-ore miner Sundance Resources
- Waco International’s divestment of Ausco Modular to TDR Capital for A$500 million
- Woolworths’ A$340 million acquisition of Cellarmasters
- Q Port Holdings’ $2.1 billion acquisition of Port of Brisbane
- Staples’ offer to acquire for all of the shares it does not already own in Corporate Express Australia, valuing the target at $1.1 billion in enterprise value
- Kirin Holdings’ acquisition of the 53.87% it did not already own in beverages company Lion Nathan
Ms. Thompson gained her experience in the communications industry with Cannings Corporate Communications. Prior to joining FTI consulting, she worked as a sole trader, contracting on a number of profile-raising projects.
Ms. Thompson has a Bachelor of Communication degree from the University of Western Sydney.
