Mark Bezant is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting based on London. He works within the Economic and Financial Consulting practice. Mr. Bezant has over 28 years’ experience of advising on all aspects of valuing businesses, companies, listed and unlisted securities, intellectual property and intangible assets. He has assisted clients in many contexts: mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, regulatory compliance and corporate governance (including fairness opinions), financial reporting, tax planning, expert determination and dispute resolution.
He is also a board director for Talon Holdco N.V., a Belgium holding company for the Truvo group of companies, which operates leading directories, search and advertising businesses, and has annual revenues of EUR 100 million.
Prior to joining FTI, he was the European Managing Director of the Finance & Accounting Services division at LECG. Mark was also formerly a partner in the valuation team of Deloitte’s corporate finance practice and previous to that the partner-in-charge of the UK economic & financial consulting practice of Arthur Andersen, which comprised its valuation, litigation support, economic consulting and business modelling groups.
Mr. Bezant is the founding and current chairman of the Valuation Special Interest Group of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
He has carried out over 400 substantive valuations in his career, on both contentious and non-contentious matters, and been appointed as an expert witness or independent expert on around 175 occasions, to assess damages and valuation issues, including in matters before the UK High Court, the Patents Court, Chancery Division, Queens Bench Division, the Restrictive Practices Court, the Royal Court of Jersey, the Family Division, the Special Commissioners for Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs, the UK Lands Tribunal, the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal, the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands, the Supreme Court of Bermuda, the Supreme Court of the State of New York, the Competition Appeal Tribunal, the Copyright Tribunal, the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, the Amsterdam Court of Appeal (Enterprise Division), the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the Dubai International Financial Centre, the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague as well as in LCIA, ICC, DIFC, UNCITRAL, ICSID and other arbitration forums, mediations including under the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s jurisdiction and various matters before the European Court and Commission.
Mr. Bezant is one of the leading experts active in commercial arbitration worldwide identified by The International Who’s Who of Commercial Arbitration 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
He has given oral evidence on 36 occasions.
