Mark Bezant is a Senior Managing Director in the Economic and Financial Consulting practice of FTI Consulting based in London. Prior to this, he was the European Managing Director of the Finance & Accounting Services division at LECG. Mark was also formerly a partner in the valuation team of Deloitte’s corporate finance practice and previous to that the partner-in-charge of the UK economic & financial consulting practice of Arthur Andersen, which comprised its valuation, litigation support, economic consulting and business modelling groups.
Mark has over 25 years’ experience of advising on all aspects of valuing businesses, companies, listed and unlisted securities, intellectual property and intangible assets. He has assisted clients in many contexts: mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, regulatory compliance and corporate governance (including fairness opinions), financial reporting, tax planning, expert determination and dispute resolution.
He is also a board director for Talon Holdco N.V., a Belgium holding company for the Truvo group of companies, which operates and has investments in leading directories, search and advertising businesses.
Mark is the chairman of the Valuation Special Interest Group of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
He has carried out over 400 substantive valuations in his career, on both contentious and non-contentious matters, and been appointed as an expert witness or independent expert on around 150 occasions, to assess damages and valuation issues, including in matters before the UK High Court, the Patents Court, Chancery Division, Queens Bench Division, the Restrictive Practices Court, the Royal Court of Jersey, the Family Division, the Special Commissioners for Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs, the UK Lands Tribunal, the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal, the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands, the Supreme Court of Bermuda, the Supreme Court of the State of New York, the Competition Appeal Tribunal, the Copyright Tribunal, the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the Dubai International Financial Centre, the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague as well as in LCIA, ICC, DIFC, UNCITRAL and other arbitration forums, mediations including under the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s jurisdiction and various matters before the European Court and Commission.
Mark is one of the leading experts active in commercial arbitration worldwide identified by The International Who’s Who of Commercial Arbitration 2011, 2012 and 2013.
He has given oral evidence on 29 occasions.
