William J. Hengemihle is a senior managing director in the FTI Consulting Forensic and Litigation practice and is based in Wayne, Pennsylvania. He provides alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services for complex problems relating to pollution liability and damages allocation for environmental cleanup and restoration actions throughout the United States.
Experience
Mr. Hengemihle is commonly engaged by potentially responsible party (PRP) groups to serve as an independent investigator and mediator or arbiter of allocation disputes for site cleanup costs and/or natural resource damages. He has successfully resolved allocation problems for more than 100 Superfund sites, including contaminated sediment sites, such as urban rivers and commercial waterways, as well as contaminated properties such as landfills, mining and mineral processing sites, waste oil recovery facilities, drum reconditioning sites, rail yards, hazardous wastes treatment facilities, and various manufacturing plants.
These assignments have involved PRP investigation, site history reconstruction, transactional database development, position paper and expert report evaluation, cause/effect analysis, environmental forensics, and damages and financial analysis. Several of his allocation assignments have been performed as a neutral party authorized and funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In addition, Mr. Hengemihle has served as an expert witness in several Superfund contribution actions.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Hengemihle was a managing director with LECG. Earlier, he was the founder and president of Advanced Analytical Solutions, Inc., a management consulting firm specializing in the resolution of environmental disputes.
Mr. Hengemihle holds a B.S. in Earth Science/Geology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver, Denver, Colorado.
