Alaric Marsden is a Managing Director in the Economic and Financial Consulting practice at FTI Consulting and is based in London.

Alaric has spent 18 years working with a range of economic and strategy consultancy companies.  His focus is on supporting utility and energy companies in formulating commercial strategy, supporting large investment decisions and informing their engagement with Government and regulators. Through working with a range of UK, European and international utility companies, Alaric brings a deep understanding of the policies and regulations required to incentivise investment.  He also enables clients to deliver this investment in way which meets clients’ commercial objectives.

His projects experience includes corporate strategy formulation, business case development, M&A planning, market entry strategies, energy scenario formulation, economic and regulatory analysis and Government/regulatory engagement.  Through this work he has prepared Board papers for many of Europe’s largest utility companies.  Having spent 9 months seconded to National Grid’s Corporate Strategy team, Alaric also understands how large utilities formulate and make decisions at the senior level.

Alaric has worked across the energy value chain including generation, transmission, distribution and retail.  He has also worked across a range of technologies including CCGTs, carbon capture and storage, nuclear (generation & waste), wind power, renewable gas, energy efficiency & services and smart metering.

He was previously a Director with Ernst & Young within the Economic Advisory team serving large utility and energy clients.  Prior to that he was a senior consultant with the Adam Smith Institute delivering economic and utility reform/regulation projects across Africa, the Middle East and India.
