Al Aardsma is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Denver. He is a member of the Construction Solutions group in the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment.

Mr. Aardsma brings more than 38 years of Healthcare Operations and Program Management experience where he has exhibited considerable leadership and direction of multidisciplinary teams assembled to identify and execute solutions that improve bottom-line performance and achieve market success for diverse healthcare enterprises.

He has served as an Expert Witness for a healthcare system on a real estate matter, and for a construction joint venture on a preconstruction services dispute.

He has extensive experience as Program Manager / Owner’s Representative for planning and delivery of capital improvement projects, programs and portfolios for hospitals, ambulatory care and medical office facilities valued at nearly $10 Billion for more than 100 clients. He has provided services to numerous hospital replacement projects. Additionally, Mr. Aardsma has experience as a management consultant to hospital systems, academic medical centers, independent hospitals and medical developers located throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Aardsma was the Director of Healthcare Services at CH2M Hill, an internationally recognized program management and engineering firm. In this position he launched a healthcare program management services line, leading and directing global business development and program delivery for government, military, proprietary and not-for-profit hospitals and systems. While at CH2M HILL, he achieved Preferred Provider Partner status with Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), Trinity Health and Catholic Healthcare Initiatives (CHI) for their capital improvement programs. He also conducted independent technical reviews for the new Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, served as subject matter expert and ‘reachback resource’ for the new Camp Humphreys Hospital outside Seoul, Korea, and oversaw delivery of program management services amounting to more than $2.5 Million in professional fees annually.

Mr. Aardsma was also a Director with Navigant Consulting where he managed the Denver regional office operations for healthcare program management and management consulting services for clients distributed across the continental U.S. While at Navigant, he managed a >$500,000 fee engagement for LEAN operations and simulation services at the 10,000 bed, $8 Billion California Health Care Prison Receivership.
