Daniel Ireland is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in New York. He is a member of the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment.
Mr. Ireland has more than 10 years of experience in providing a range of business advisory, recovery and restructuring services to a broad group of stakeholder clients, including senior lenders, junior lenders, unsecured creditors, private equity investors and corporations.
Mr. Ireland’s diverse industry experience includes telecommunications, manufacturing, retail, financial services, oil and gas, hotels, gaming, printing and residential construction.
Mr. Ireland acted as an advisor to the term loan lenders of a global offshore oil rig supplier with $3 billion in debt, evaluating the business plan and development and negotiation of strategic alternatives with other stakeholder groups. He successfully challenged the confirmation of the debtor plans of reorganization.
Mr. Ireland has advised the term loan and revolver lenders of a global supplier of offshore service vessels with $2 billion in debt as well as the unsecured creditors committee of a $5 billion turnover global gaming corporation with $18 billion of debt. He also was an advisor to the senior lender to a $150 million turnover U.S. nutraceuticals manufacturer during Chapter 11, which included monitoring trading and liquidity performance, recommending improvements to internal controls and ensuring compliance with a settlement agreement.
Furthermore, Mr. Ireland has worked on company-side business plan review for a €300 million turnover Netherlands-based global back-up power provider. He also provided working capital improvement review for a $6 billion turnover U.S. mass media group in order to reduce the external financing requirement for its private equity investors.
Mr. Ireland was involved in overseeing the continued trading of a £400 million UK-based pan-European IT solutions business during an administration process, which included customer retention and securing short term funding from customers to bridge to a sale of viable components of the business, as well as the recovery of trade receivables and the supervision of company employees.
Mr. Ireland has provided independent business review and restructuring of both a £1 billion turnover privately owned and private equity-backed provided of community regeneration and housing solutions in the UK, as well as a €200 million turnover listed Spanish printing business with operations across Europe, where he also provided subsequent financial restructuring advisory services to the senior lender syndicate.
Mr. Ireland has performed short term cash flow and business plan review of a Benelux-based telecommunications business, including lender side advisory on a disposal of their debt holding. In addition, he has provided buy-side valuation services as part of a debt portfolio disposal process by a leading UK financial institution, as well as business review of a £100 million UK printing business, including valuation and contingency planning advice to the lender syndicate. He advised the pension trustees to a £1 billion turnover UK consumer finance company undergoing a comprehensive financial restructuring process.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Ireland gained experience in audit, corporate finance and insolvency.
Mr. Ireland holds a B.A. in Finance from the University of Manchester. He is a Chartered Accountant.
