Keith Shah is a Managing Director at FTI and Chief Strategy Officer in the Center for Healthcare Economics and Policy, a separate business unit of FTI Consulting, Inc., where he leads development and implementation of data driven strategies. Dr. Shah has extensive experience in operations and financial management, change management, business and organizational development, process improvement, population health and strategic planning. He has experience in both the provider and payer environments.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Dr. Shah worked for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina for 15 years. As a senior corporate officer leading the Corporate Planning and Strategic Services division, Dr. Shah managed enterprise-wide development and business incubation departments chartered across all lines of business and subsidiaries through operations management, market research, health care analytics and information technology. He also brokered large scale corporate business development activities, including payer-provider partnerships, network development, and clinical integration. Dr. Shah provided architecture, strategy, informatics and analytics for ongoing value-based initiatives including, Accountable Care Organizations (ACO), Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMH) and bundled payments. He managed development efforts in Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Tricare, and all range of commercial environments including the changes between B2B, B2C and consumerism. Dr. Shah was involved in the development of two new companies, each with a discrete business focus. He developed corporate strategy and integration of wholly owned subsidiaries and increased respective market position. Additionally, he led cost reduction efforts to drive operational efficiencies within the parent organization through process improvement, Lean Six Sigma, feasibility analysis, and cost-benefit analysis.

Dr. Shah retains adjunct faculty appointments at the University of South Carolina and A.T. Still University of Health Sciences where he teaches a range of graduate courses. Dr. Shah also previously held positions at Greenville Hospital Systems and Clemson University.

Dr. Shah holds a Bachelors from Drexel University, an M.H.R.D. and a M.B.A. from Clemson University. He holds a Ph.D. in Health Services Policy and Management from the University of South Carolina. He holds the professional distinctions of Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), Fellow in the Academy of Healthcare Management (FAHM), Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI), and Fellow, Financial Services Institute (FFSI). Other endeavors have taken him to Duke, Cornell, Emory and University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Shah has served on a variety of community service groups and is a graduate of Leadership South Carolina. He currently serves on the Executive Committee for EngenuitySC, the Advisory Board for the USC School of Public Health, and he co-chaired the university-wide capital campaign. He formerly served on the Executive Committee of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Insurance & Technology cluster for South Carolina.
