Elizabeth Alexander is a Managing Director in the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting, and is based in Washington, D.C. She also is part of the segment’s Public Affairs practice.

Ms. Alexander provides counsel to international corporations and firms, on the development and implementation of communications and public affairs strategies. She also specializes in crisis management, legislative and regulatory challenges and leadership transitions across broad sectors of the economy. Ms. Alexander has served at the highest levels of government and politics, bringing with her more than 10 years of strategic communications, legal and public affairs experience.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, she spent the first 2.5 years of the Obama Administration as the press secretary and spokesperson for U.S. Vice President Joe Biden; a role she also played for then-Senator Biden on Capitol Hill, and on the vice presidential transition team.

Most recently, Ms. Alexander worked for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s offices in Alexandria, Va. and Washington, D.C. During this time, Ms. Alexander managed and prosecuted a large criminal caseload, along with advising the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District Court of Virginia on strategic planning and media relations.

Ms. Alexander also has worked as a press secretary for the United Nations Foundation; where she helped create “Nothing but Nets,” the highly successful global media and grassroots campaign to combat the spread of malaria. Earlier in her career, she was press secretary for Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe; communications director for U.S. Congressman Adam B. Schiff; and deputy press secretary for U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer.

Ms. Alexander holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas A&M University, and a law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.
