John Strek is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in New York. He is a member of the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment.
Mr. Strek is a recognized leader in the restructuring profession with more than 20 years of experience advising and participating in complex corporate reorganizations. He has been involved in all aspects of financial restructuring as an advisor to financially underperforming and distressed companies, lenders, creditors, corporate boards and equity owners. He has advised on numerous restructuring transactions and has successfully restructured billions of dollars of debt.
Diverse industries Mr. Strek has advised clients in include homebuilding, manufacturing, restaurants, food processing, retail and media. He has served as interim management of distressed companies, acted as financial advisor to boards of directors and/or principal shareholders in the purchase or sale of both healthy and underperforming businesses and has assisted clients in the development of strategic and business plans.

Mr. Strek joined FTI Consulting with its acquisition of CDG Group, where he was a Senior Managing Director. Prior to that, he was a Partner in the Corporate Finance practice at Ernst & Young LLP, specializing in providing financial advisory to clients pursuing restructurings, acquisitions, divestitures and capital raising activities. Previously, Mr. Strek worked at a leading money center bank focusing on highly leveraged transactions involving various media industries.
As a recognized expert, Mr. Strek has lectured on topics related to restructurings and buying and selling companies to various audiences.
Mr. Strek holds a B.S. in Industrial and Operational Engineering and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.
