Kate Economou is a Senior Director in the Strategic Communications practice of FTI Consulting and is based in New York. Ms. Economou has over 15 years of experience in primary and secondary qualitative and quantitative research in both the corporate and academic arenas. She brings an extensive background in intelligence gathering, reference optimization, and knowledge management, as well as operations, to the Strategy Consulting and Research group.
Ms. Economou is a specialist in Higher Education and the Research Lead for the Strategic Communications Practice’s Healthcare and Life Sciences Sector. She has significant experience in market and landscape analyses, branding research, message testing, and analyses of stakeholder reaction with respect to specific events.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, she was the Senior Research Librarian at Warburg Pincus, where she led a team of researchers in support of the firm’s partners and associates worldwide. She specialized in complex reference projects requiring data mining and analysis for use in deal prospecting, industry investigations that included financial, market and product and legal research, competitive intelligence and source assessment.
Her private industry experience also includes media, technology and telecommunications. She has a hands-on operations perspective, having developed and managed the day-to-day business processes at a start-up competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) for several years. She was responsible for building all aspects of the support organization including policies and procedures, billing processes, systems, staffing and reporting.
Ms. Economou was a lecturer in sociology at New York University, during which time she performed broad qualitative research including in-depth interviews and participant observation programs, executed surveys, and developed studies that analyzed influencers and new norms adoption within and across factions.
Ms. Economou holds an undergraduate degree in History (Magna Cum Laude) from Columbia University, an M.A. in Sociology from New York University, where she was fully funded, and an M.L.S. in Information Management from the City University of NY. She is an active member of the Special Libraries Association and holds a certification in Public Librarianship from the State of New York.
