Mark Dewar is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Sydney. Mr. Dewar has more than 17 years of experience principally advising corporations, private equity investors and junior debt providers. Currently, Mr. Dewar is based in Sydney, supporting the growth of the firm’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment across Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

Mr. Dewar has been involved in various industries, including financial services, telecommunications, software, retail, engineering, building and construction, and automotive. Recent cases have involved working in jurisdictions that have suffered as a result of macro-economic conditions, such as Greece, Cyprus, Ireland and Iceland.

Mr Dewar provides advice on complex financial restructurings, prepares and reviews forecasts, provides cash management and performance improvement services and advises investors who have exposure to underperforming or distressed assets. Mr. Dewar’s assignments have included advising several U.S. and European hedge funds on investments in European assets, advising the board of a Cypriot Bank through the Greek financial crisis, supporting a global events management business through a finance transformation and financial restructuring, advising the board of a global telecommunications business with business planning and liquidity management and advising the board of a global DVD replication business through an operational and financial restructuring.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Dewar was a director in the London Corporate Finance practice at Ernst & Young. Mr. Dewar also undertook a 15-month secondment to the Leverage Finance team at the Royal Bank of Scotland in London. During this time, he was responsible for maintaining the bank’s relationship with a number of leverage buyout customers, which included playing a large role in the completion of recapitalisation and refinancing transactions. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Mr. Dewar worked for a FTSE 100 IT Services company and for Credit Suisse First Boston in New York. He commenced his career in Australia, where he worked in the Audit practice at Ernst & Young.

Mr. Dewar holds a B.B. in Accounting from Griffith University. He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.
