Nick Hourigan is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in London. Nick leads the Financial & Enterprise Data Analytics practice in the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment in Europe, Middle East and Africa. For over 18 years, he has performed large volume transaction-based analytics for litigation and investigation matters. Nick is considered an expert in the financial services industry, and has managed complex projects with record sets in the billions.
Nick’s team specialise in the capture, analysis and presentation of large disparate sets of financial, operational and transactional data. On behalf of his clients, he has developed innovative technical solutions to financial markets and other investigative analyses which have been accepted by numerous regulatory authorities. In addition to pure data analytics, he is an expert in leading rapid development of web-based applications to support workflow, analysis and visualisation for global matter teams, including clients and lawyers.
His early career was dedicated to data analytics in negotiated insurance settlements, and while he works across industries with data-intensive disputes and inquiries, his focus is financial services, where he has represented clients before multiple regulatory authorities. Recent high-profile matters have included a securities lending regulatory matter, a multi-billion mortgage backed securities litigation and derivatives position and transaction reporting investigations.
Nick has global responsibility for his practice’s knowledge sharing and retention, including repositories of code and other aspects of technical solutions to client problems that require the use of data to reveal truths underlying commercial disputes and regulatory inquiries.
