Ryan Ross is a Senior Director within the Health Solutions practice at FTI Consulting. He is based in Indianapolis, IN. Mr. Ross has more than 15 years of experience providing strategic, operational and financial advisory services to a variety of healthcare clients, including community hospitals, integrated delivery systems, academic medical centers, physician groups and health plans.
Mr. Ross has led numerous engagements to assist clients in setting strategic direction and developing practical strategies to achieve organizational objectives and margin improvement. He has guided clients through enterprise-wide strategic planning, service line planning, market assessments, affiliation strategy, merger integration, financial impact modeling, hospital-physician alignment, community benefit analyses, academic funds flow work and board facilitation.
His specific engagement work includes: health system portfolio strategy, in which he assisted a ten hospital system develop a metric-based hospital performance diagnostic tool and capital allocation framework; community benefit analyses, in which he has assisted numerous hospitals construct physician recruitment plans by specialty to address community needs and organizational strategies; hospital-physician alignment, in which he has assisted several health systems develop distinct strategies by specialty and physician group (e.g., employment, joint ventures, management contracts, bundled payment strategies); value-based payment analysis, in which he developed financial models to assist a hospital structure a pay-for-performance (P4P) program with physicians as a stepping stone to an Accountable Care Organization (ACO); mergers and acquisitions (M&A), in which he has assisted multiple hospital boards explore affiliation opportunities, draft formal requests for proposals (RFPs), evaluate offers and then implement merger integration activities; ambulatory planning, in which he assisted multiple health systems formulate service mix by geography; and service line planning in the areas of cardiovascular, orthopedics, surgical services, behavioral health, women’s and children’s and emergency departments.
Mr. Ross holds a M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a B.S. in Accounting and International Studies with distinction from Indiana University (Bloomington).
