Steve Moseley is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Chicago. He is the Midwest regional leader of the Business Insurance Claims practice in the Forensic and Litigation Consulting segment. Mr. Moseley has more than 20 years of experience providing consulting services to clients and their counsel. He provides financial, economic, forensic accounting, and data management consulting services in connection with complex business insurance claims, mass tort litigation, insurance regulatory matters, wage and hour litigation, and other commercial business disputes.
Mr. Moseley’s experience includes working with companies, insurance brokers, and insurance coverage counsel to prepare, defend, and review comprehensive claims for property damage, extra expense, and business interruption. He provides forensic accounting, and analytical support to resolve insurance coverage disputes, and evaluate insurance recovery in light of factual and legal uncertainty. He offers settlement advice, and provides litigation support. He has been retained by Fortune 500 companies, middle-market companies, insurance brokers, and leading insurance coverage law firms to prepare claims in connection with losses stemming from hurricanes, derailments, fires, floods, and product recalls among other catastrophic events.
Mr. Moseley’s experience also includes valuing and preparing “long-tail” liability insurance claims. He works closely with clients and their counsel to value historical claims, project estimates of future liabilities, and design sophisticated financial models to allocate indemnity and defense costs to historical general liability insurance policies. He has provided these services in connection with various types of liabilities including asbestos, environmental, repetitive strain, noise-induced hearing loss, toxic exposure, and other claims.
Mr. Moseley also has significant experience performing data analytics on large and complex data sets in connection with mass tort litigation, insurance coverage disputes, bankruptcies, and class actions. He has synthesized large volumes of data to assess causation issues and calculate damages. In addition, he has designed and maintained claim management systems, implemented reporting tools to evaluate key financial metrics, performed statistical analyses, and analyzed data trends to support valuation of damages.
Mr. Moseley has also provided financial and economic analyses in connection with wage and hour litigation involving alleged misclassification of exempt/non-exempt employees, as well as forensic investigations, and commercial business disputes involving alleged auditor malfeasance, racketeering, breach of contract, and commercial disparagement among other allegations.
Mr. Moseley has provided services to companies in a variety of industries including railroad, aerospace, e-commerce, oil and gas, chemical, utility, insurance, financial institutions, manufacturing, and consumer products, among others. Mr. Moseley has been designated as an expert at arbitration and has testified in civil court proceedings.
