Tom Kerr is a Senior Director in the FTI Consulting Construction Solutions practice and is based in Philadelphia. He has more than 25 years of professional experience in the engineering, design, and construction and government contract industries. During his career, Mr. Kerr has had extensive experience providing comprehensive marketing and business development services for engineering, design, and construction consulting firms serving the transportation, infrastructure, power, oil & gas, petrochemical, environmental, aerospace, and marine industries. He has developed marketing and business development plans, strategies, and budgets; prepared proposals, presentations, corporate marketing materials, websites, and e-marketing campaigns; identified and generated business opportunities; and participated in professional conferences and seminars worldwide.
Prior to FTI Consulting, Mr. Kerr was a director in the global construction practice at Navigant Consulting, where he was responsible for marketing, business development, and client relations activities. Working with the global construction practice leaders, he was responsible for developing and implementing marketing plans and budgets, domestic and international business development programs, and the firm’s client satisfaction survey program. His responsibilities included identification of business opportunities, lead generation, and direct client contact. Mr. Kerr generated more than $7 million in revenue for the Construction, Energy and Disputes & Investigation Practices. He also directed the marketing staff in the preparation of corporate brochures and marketing collateral, website content, client presentations, and direct mail and e-marketing campaigns. In addition, he was responsible for print and e-marketing advertising in professional magazines, trade journals, consultant/expert witness directories, and online media. Mr. Kerr also represented the firm at legal and industry conferences domestically and internationally.
Previously, Mr. Kerr was the Vice President of marketing for Barba-Arkhon International, where he was responsible for the preparation and successful implementation of corporate marketing plans and domestic and international business development activities. Working with the firm’s lead testifying experts, Mr. Kerr directly contributed to growing the practice into a nationally recognized $8.5 million business, when it was acquired by Navigant Consulting. His responsibilities included direct client liaison, lead generation, client interviews and presentations, contract negotiations, and proposal debriefings. Mr. Kerr also directed the marketing staff in the preparation of Federal and state agency qualifications, technical and cost proposals, corporate brochures and marketing literature, website content, client presentations, and direct-mail materials. In addition, he was responsible for the firm's public relations activities and national advertising in professional magazines, trade journals, and consultant/expert witness directories. Mr. Kerr also represented the firm at legal and industry conferences in the United States and abroad.
Mr. Kerr began his professional career at Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation, where he managed the Worldwide Business Development Department staff in the preparation of Federal and state qualifications, technical and cost proposals, client presentations, and corporate marketing materials. His responsibilities included participation in the development of business sector plans and strategies, and marketing budgets and forecasts. In addition, he was responsible for client contact, interviews, and debriefings.
