Vanson Soo is a Senior Director in the Global Risk & Investigations practice within the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment at FTI Consulting and is based in Hong Kong.
Vanson has almost 20 years’ experience in risk management and brings a wealth of expertise in handling reputational due diligence, corporate intelligence and complex investigations.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Vanson was the Director of Intelligence at a U.S. advisory firm. Before that, he ran his own boutique business intelligence and investigations firm for seven years with a particular focus on the Greater China region.
Vanson has conducted a number of wide-ranging engagements including asset tracing, whistleblower investigations, Know Your Customer (“KYC”) and supply-chain checks and corporate governance issues.
Earlier in his career, Vanson was an award-winning commercial crime investigative reporter, specialising in investment fraud. He won a Society of Publishers in Asia (“SOPA”) Award in 2005 for his exposé on the largest investment product fraud in Hong Kong history. Prior to that, Vanson was a Regional Economist for Southeast Asia and India for a Swiss financial institution, where he advised senior executives, clients and regulators on market risks, strategies and the global regulatory landscape.
Vanson has a graduate and undergraduate degree in Economics from McGill University and Queen’s University in Canada, respectively, and a Master of Journalism, with Distinction, from the University of Hong Kong. He served in the Republic of Singapore Air Force from 1988-1990 and 1996-1997.
