Initially focusing his career on mergers and acquisitions, Mr. Shultz has expanded his expertise into capital raising and restructuring advisory. He is particularly effective at accessing private institutional debt and equity funding in more challenging situations. Mr. Shultz’s expertise has been recognized by his peers, as he has been named one of Southern California’s top 25 deal makers by the Los Angeles Business Journal. In addition, he received the 2007 Middle Market Deal of the Year by The M&A Advisor and was a finalist in 2006.
Mr. Shultz’s experience was garnered at firms such as McKinsey and Company, where he worked in the firm’s acquisition advisory practice; Drexel Burnham Lambert, where he directed the west coast corporate sale and divestiture effort; and Chanin Capital Partners, where he advised both creditor committees and debtors in capital raising and corporate sale transactions. Mr. Shultz has also served in senior investment banking capacities at Prudential Securities and The Seidler Companies.
Prior to joining FTI, Mr. Shultz served as an independent financial advisor for several companies, including publicly-held j2 Global Communications (NASDAQ:JCOM)a leading provider of communications services and Talk Radio Network, an Oregon-based syndicator of talk radio programming.
Mr. Shultz holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and a B.A. in economics, summa cum laude, from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Mr. Shultz has served on the boards of directors of both for profit and non-profit organizations. Mr. Shultz was co-chairman (1994-2003) of the highly successful Los Angeles Investment Capital Conference. |
