Analysis included the determination of a reasonable royalty rate for use of the relevant patents-in-suit.

Assisted a global oilfield service company in its defense of a patent infringement suit brought by an individual inventor. The patented technology related to the processing of seismic data that has been acquired. Determined reasonable royalty damages based in part on an assessment of industry licensing as well as the historical licensing efforts of the inventor. Case settled before trial.

Retained by the plaintiff, a high speed vibrating screen manufacturing company operating in the process industries, in a patent and trademark infringement suit to assess economic damages incurred by the plaintiff. The case involved multiple patents related to solids control screen technology used in the oilfield drilling services sector. Reviewed defendant sales records to determine revenue obtained from accused products, as well as analyzed plaintiff's incremental costs and profits related to products incorporating the patented technology at issue. Work performed also included database development related to defendant sales information and a calculation of pre-judgment interest.

Assisted one of the largest U.S. independent oil and gas exploration and production companies in a patent infringement action brought forth against a competitor. The technology related to a particular method of horizontal drilling for the exploration of oil and natural gas. Work included analyzing the production from, as well as the sales and profits generated by, a variety of oil and gas wells located primarily in the Austin Chalk area that were drilled horizontally.

Assisted a global oilfield service company in its defense of a patent infringement suit brought by a direct competitor. The patented technology related to marine seismic services, specifically the use of ocean bottom cabling for seismic data acquisition. Calculated potential damages by preparing a variety of royalty analyses based on comparable license agreements/proposals and the cost of alternatives.

Retained by the plaintiff in a patent infringement matter involving allegedly infringing system of resin beds that remove Heat Stable Salts from Amine systems used to remove hydrogen sulfide from sour gas streams. Analysis included determination of lost profits, reasonable royalty and price erosion.

Evaluated plaintiffs’ claimed damages against a major insurance company that had financed a company accused of wrongfully soliciting employees and misappropriating trade secrets from a company involved in developing power projects in emerging market countries. Analysis included examining the legal, regulatory and business environment in India and Indonesia as well as the financial aspects of the specific power projects in question.
