Banking Risk and Regulation: Mike Walters Comments on Consumer Duty Rules

8 August 2024 — Following the UK competition watchdog’s reprimand of four banks for poor communication, Mike Walters comments on whether the failures breach the Financial Conduct Authority’s Consumer Duty Rules in an article published by Banking Risk and Regulation.

In the article he said, “Poor communications are one of the problems identified in the CMA Order … which lines up with the price and value outcome of the Consumer Duty.

“The FCA is likely to look into these findings, [but] whether it will take action is another matter.”
