Lerato Msib is in the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment in Johannesburg, and dedicates his time to the Forensic Investigations business unit. Lerato was a finalist in the 2019 SAICA Top 35 Under 35 competition, which recognises and rewards young CA(SA)s who are trailblazers and leaders in their own right.
Lerato was the Acting General Manager of the MTN Group Forensic Services function, responsible for the function's strategic management, including proactive, detective, and response initiatives. Lerato was responsible for managing fraud risk frameworks, developing and driving appropriate fraud investigation frameworks, monitoring and mitigation policies, procedures and controls for internal use within MTN Group and the 22 MTN Operating Companies (OpCo's) across the African continent and in the Middle East.
Before joining MTN, Lerato spent three years working within KPMG's Forensic Services practice, managing and conducting forensic investigations into bribery, fraud, corruption, procurement irregularities, malpractice, and financial crimes. He's forensic investigation experience spans over nine years and covers investigations of civil and criminal matters across various countries on the African continent, including South Africa, Zambia, Uganda, Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo Brazzaville, Lesotho, Cote d'Ivoire and Benin.
Prior to joining the KPMG's Forensic Services practice, Lerato was an Audit Supervisor in the Regional Audit business unit and gained three years of external audit experience in private and public sectors. During this period, Lerato's responsibilities included performing risk assessment procedures, planning and managing audit engagements, and reviewing and analysing financial statements.
Lerato is a Board member of the Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners (ICFP). The ICFP is a self-regulatory body mandated by its members to Cohere, Co-ordinate and Regulate the commercial forensic profession in South Africa.
