Lloyd McGuire is a Managing Director in the Turnaround & Restructuring practice. He has over 10 years of cross-functional professional services experience, including roles as a business turnaround consultant, financial restructuring advisor, lawyer and litigator for public and private companies, lenders, unsecured parties and government entities. Mr. McGuire’s industry experience includes exploration and production (“E&P”), oilfield and energy services, midstream, downstream, engineering and construction (“E&C”), healthcare, manufacturing, and security and defense.
Mr. McGuire’s turnaround and financial restructuring experiences include both out-of-court and bankruptcy engagements. He has been responsible for assignments ranging from conducting and leading business diagnostics, strategic assessments, business plan creation and due diligence, cash flow forecasting, risk-weighted liquidity evaluations, corporate overhead review, debt negotiations and repayment strategies, collateral assessments, liquidation analyses, financial advisor communications management, to contingency planning, plan of reorganization negotiations, evaluation and negotiation of 363 sale processes, the review of debtor-in-possession financing, claims analysis and detailed recovery analysis.
A representative list of Mr. McGuire’s public engagements include AMPNI (Aegean), Boomerang Tube, Chicago Bridge & Iron, Dune Energy, Energy & Exploration Partners, EXCO Resources, RockPile Energy, SandRidge Energy, Shoreline Energy, Swift Energy and Penn Virginia Corporation. Mr. McGuire regularly participates at industry events and speaks on various panels including the Turnaround Management Association’s Annual Conference’s Energy Restructuring and Revitalization panel.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. McGuire interned with The Blackstone Group’s GSO Capital Partners, where he appraised credit investment opportunities in the E&P sector. Prior to that, he served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps as a Judge Advocate, where he spent much of his time focused on litigation, collectively prosecuting over 100 cases. While in the Marines, Mr. McGuire deployed to Afghanistan with an infantry battalion, where he acted as the Commanding Officer’s legal advisor on matters such as fiscal law, investigations, detainee operations and the law of war including the rules of engagement. Before separating from the Marine Corps with an Honorable Discharge, Mr. McGuire obtained the rank of Major.
Mr. McGuire received a B.A. from Southwestern University, a J.D. from the University of South Carolina, and an M.B.A. from Texas A&M University. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, South Carolina Bar, and District of Columbia Bar and currently serves on the Texas A&M M.B.A. Advisory Board.
