Mark J. Golden is the Co-Leader of the Private Client Advisory group and has more than 35 years of federal and state tax experience advising owners of closely held businesses, family offices and high-net-worth individuals in minimizing their tax liabilities while developing strategies to achieve their business and personal objectives.
Mr. Golden has successfully represented numerous clients under audit by the Internal Revenue Service. He has also successfully represented clients under residency audit by various states. In addition to representing clients, he has worked with clients to assist them in reducing their potential estate tax by creating and implementing family gifting programs during their lifetimes. Finally, Mr. Golden has worked with numerous attorneys, supporting them and their clients during litigation.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Golden was a Tax Director at RSM McGladrey in Orange County, CA where he was responsible for a wide range of federal, state and international tax issues, including the review of individual, partnership, corporate, fiduciary, foundation and nonprofit tax returns. Prior to that, he was a Senior Manager at Arthur Andersen where he was responsible for the Private Client Tax Services Group in the Orange County, CA office focusing on providing comprehensive estate, gift and trust tax and succession planning services for high-net-worth individuals. He was also a Tax Director at Deloitte & Touche LLP and has held management positions at Ernst & Young LLP in Los Angeles, CA.
Mr. Golden has been a speaker on the topic of "Fundamentals of Postmortem Trust Administration" for the State Bar of California and the University of California. He is also an instructor of Trust Taxation for the California Society of CPAs - Orange County Chapter.
