Mason Drew is an accomplished cybersecurity and law enforcement veteran, whose expertise includes cybersecurity incident response, investigation, prevention, remediation, recovery, and neutralization.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Drew was a Supervisory Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He has worked extensively with both government and private industry subject matter experts to design, develop, and deploy solutions for threat intelligence sharing and incident response; he has extensive knowledge of criminal and national security threat sets.
Mr. Drew has personally written and deployed network intrusion signatures at Fortune 500 companies and conducted reverse engineering of malware used in major intrusions, as well as network traffic capture and analysis of Advanced Persistent Threat groups.
Mr. Drew was the deputy head of the FBI office in Beijing. In 2016, he was the first ever FBI Cyber Assistant Legal Attaché deployed to the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and represented the FBI during the historic bilateral engagement following the 2015 US-China Cyber Agreement. Mr. Drew was then posted to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and represented the FBI in engagement with the PRC government on all relevant matters, including cybersecurity, counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and criminal investigations.
Mr. Drew has also served as the FBI Cyber representative to the National Security Agency (NSA) in Honolulu, Hawaii, covering all matters involving cybersecurity threats in the Asia-Pacific region. In this role, Mr. Drew represented FBI cybersecurity interests to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, and managed intelligence sharing on all cybersecurity threat sets, defending U.S. networks and engaging with government and private sector stakeholders in the region.
Before deploying to the NSA, Mr. Drew spent seven years as an FBI Special Agent conducting cybersecurity investigations involving theft of trade secrets, cyber espionage, and cyber crimes perpetrated against Fortune 500 companies. As a result of his groundbreaking work, he was awarded the U.S. Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service, as well as the FBI Director's Award for Excellence in Outstanding Cyber Investigation.
Mr. Drew has a B.S. in Computer Engineering and an MBA from Texas A&M University. He is a fluent speaker of Mandarin Chinese.
