Mathias Samson

Mathias Samson is Head of Public Affairs for Germany and based in Berlin. He stands for a holistic view of the challenges clients face at the interface of business, society and politics today.

Before joining FTI Consulting in June 2020, Mathias was State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport and Regional Development during the first Conservative-Green coalition from 2014 to 2019. There, he was responsible for driving important economic and environmental policy projects, particularly in the fields of energy, mobility and digitisation, effectively helping to shape and implement practical policies.

Between 2000 and 2013, he worked at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety in Berlin, first as office manager of the State Secretary, then from 2004 onwards as Head of the Environment, Transport and Electromobility Division.

Relevant Experience:

• Almost 20 years of professional experience in ministries in Germany at federal and state level
• Extensive experience and knowledge in the field of electromobility (development of the national platform for electromobility in Germany)
• Development of digitisation strategies at federal and state levels and in local authorities
