About Nicole
Nicole Costaldo’s expertise is in the analysis of business systems containing large and complex financial and operational data, with a specialization in assessing, building and reconstructing financial models and critical business processes. Ms. Costaldo’s expertise drives from her educational background, professional networks and 7+ years in assisting corporations by conducting independent assessments or regulatory bodies, such as the DOJ, SEC and DFS, in investigating and quantifying financial crimes and regulatory violations.
Ms. Costaldo has supported Trustees appointed by the Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate multi-million and billion-dollar Ponzi Schemes. Ms. Costaldo’s roles included recreating books and records, by developing and managing financial models, to account for the disposition of investors and to aid the Trustees in clawing back funds. To date and collectively, Ms. Costaldo has aided in the recovery of billions of funds and streamlines the process by which victims are to be paid. Specifically, Ms. Costaldo has served as a claims administrator by creating and managing a claims database housing all claims related information. Further, Ms. Costaldo developed a process to transform structured claims data into a format accepted by Wells Fargo’s CEO portal enabling a Receiver to issue payment to over hundred thousand claimants in one distribution.
Additionally, Ms. Costaldo has supported monitorships of a retail consumer business and large international bank charged with BSA and AML violations. In each instance, Ms. Costaldo has systematically recreated the entities transaction monitoring models to identify areas of vulnerability and to develop and implement effective, efficient, and compliant processes for the monitored entity. Ms. Costaldo’s most recent work aided in the adoption of Rule 504 by the DFS and led to a multi-year monitorship of a large international bank where Ms. Costaldo leads the team in validating the systems and models used to remediate and enhance the banks current transaction monitoring program. Further, Ms. Costaldo has aided corporations in the independent assessment of a large online mortgage business platform and Principal vs. Agency FX trading practices on behalf of a custodial bank. Specifically, Ms. Costaldo conducted control tests to identify vulnerabilities in the mortgage lending process. During the FX assessment, Ms. Costaldo cleansed FX data and charted such against market data across multiple trading desks.
Ms. Costaldo holds a B.A. from Miami University of Ohio in Management Information Systems. Along with education in Finance and Accounting, Ms. Costaldo focused on Database Management Theories and Principals, Application Development with relation to Business Information Systems, Project Management and Documentation of System Assessments, Integration, and Development related Projects. Ms. Costaldo’s educational background and historic work experience provides her clients with a systematic and process-driven approach to identifying the critical role business systems play in a corporation’s daily operations.
Ms. Costaldo has been a part of project teams nominated for outstanding client service two years in a row and was a part of the project team who won the 2015 FTI Consulting Outstanding Client Service award.
