Ronnie A. Martin is a Senior Managing Director in the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment of FTI Consulting, and is based in the Houston office. Mr. Martin has more than 40 years of broad experience in various business and operational aspects of the oil and gas industry and over 17 years of experience in handling complex energy-related litigation and disputes for major oil companies.
Mr. Martin has assisted FTI Consulting’s clients in analyzing and resolving disputes relating to crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids. This work includes data identification and gathering, analysis and modeling, developing resolution strategies, negotiating settlements and providing trial testimony. Mr. Martin has provided testimony regarding crude oil and natural gas royalty and tax severance valuation disputes, natural gas marketing, gas contract administration, contract interpretation and post-production costs.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Martin held various positions within Texaco’s exploration and production department and its natural gas department. While Vice President of Texaco Exploration and Production, Inc. (TEPI), Mr. Martin was responsible for managing TEPI’s domestic production services operations. This responsibility included the business oversight of domestic oil and gas litigation, managing the sale of TEPI’s domestic crude oil production, developing natural gas and crude oil conflict avoidance initiatives and coordinating TEPI’s natural gas and crude oil royalty practices.
Mr. Martin and his organization provided a single point source for litigation strategy, technical expertise, research data and case management for trial, mediation, arbitration and settlement negotiations. At TEPI, he was the senior business executive responsible for developing resolution strategy and negotiating settlements for natural gas and crude oil claims.
Mr. Martin also has industry experience in gas operations, including engineering design, project installation and field operations of natural gas pipelines, compressors, treating facilities and gas processing plants. He has negotiated, administered and resolved disputes relating to natural gas sales contracts, gas processing agreements and gas handling agreements, including natural gas take-or-pay settlements with interstate and intrastate pipeline companies and pricing disputes with federal and state agencies and private royalty owners.
