About Stephen
Stephen C. Robinson joined the Board of Directors of FTI Consulting, Inc. in March 2022 and serves as a member of the Audit Committee and the Nominating, Corporate Governance and Social Responsibility Committee.
Mr. Robinson is a retired partner of the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP (“Skadden”), a multinational law firm. He joined Skadden in 2010 and practiced in its litigation group, its government enforcement group and its white-collar crime group until his retirement in 2021.
Mr. Robinson previously served as a federal judge for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York from 2003 to 2010, for which he was nominated by President George W. Bush. Prior to serving on the Southern District bench, Mr. Robinson held several positions in the government. From 1998 to 2001, he served as U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, for which he was nominated by President William J. Clinton. From 1993 to 1995, Mr. Robinson served as the Principal Deputy General Counsel for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Mr. Robinson was also an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1987 to 1991.
Mr. Robinson has also served in multiple leadership and management roles, including as the Chief Executive Officer of Empower New Haven, a nonprofit agency focused on urban development social services, from 2002 to 2003, and as the Chief Compliance Officer of Aetna U.S. Healthcare, a managed healthcare company, from 1995 to 1998.
Mr. Robinson has served on the Board of Directors of Dycom Industries, Inc., a specialty contracting services company, since January 2022.
Mr. Robinson serves on the Board of Trustees of the New York Community Trust, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Cornell University and Weill Cornell Medicine. He is also the civilian representative on the New York City Police Department’s Handschu Committee, which ensures that the New York Police Department complies with the guidelines for investigations into political activity and terrorism. Mr. Robinson is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Cornell Law Dean’s Advisory Committee.
Mr. Robinson received his law degree from Cornell Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Cornell University.
