Gail Lobin

Gail Lobin is a Senior Advisor at FTI Consulting in the Public Affairs practice of the Strategic Communications segment, and is based in Chicago, IL. Her experience includes issues and reputation management, community engagement, media relations and crisis management.

Ms. Lobin has extensive experience counseling clients in the energy, transportation and industrial sectors, where she manages issues that have the attention of regulators, media, community members, investors and others. She has assisted an integrated oil and gas company on large scale environmental remediation sites, navigating complex stakeholder communications, including regulatory action, community and NGO activities and litigation.

In the transportation sector, Ms. Lobin has deep experience in the highly-regulated freight rail industry with CSX in the areas of positioning, project siting, regulatory impacts, state and federal relations and corporate governance and social responsibility. Ms. Lobin has served on CSX’s crisis response team charged with managing communications around incidents impacting public safety or the environment, including derailments. Ms. Lobin has also been called on site to work with media and others following a work-place violence event.

Ms. Lobin has worked in the natural gas sector for Americas Natural Gas Alliance (now under the umbrella of the American Petroleum Institute), participating in a multi-state issue campaign and on the sustainability and economic benefits of natural gas. Ms. Lobin’s experience in the industrial sector includes counsel to an association and individual companies on managing communications around the transport of hazardous materials. She frequently advises clients on building relationships with and responding to NGO and grassroots activism and has broad experience in directing strategy and communications with manufacturers facing legislative or regulatory action.

Before joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Lobin founded and managed her own public affairs firm. Prior to that she was as a Vice President at APCO Worldwide, worked as a senior advisor to officials in state and federal government and led electoral and public policy campaigns.

Ms. Lobin is a member of the Chicago Area Public Affairs Group and the City Club of Chicago. Ms. Lobin holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Arizona.
