Martin Nicholson

Martin Nicholson has operated at a senior level within the Australian and international mining industry for over 20 years. He has expertise in financial and commercial leadership; including operations planning and reporting, investment and divestment assessment and execution, project economic assessment and continuous improvement.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Martin operated in a senior financial and commercial role for a multi-national gold producer, at a 500 koz pa Australian gold operation. There he led financial, management and operational reporting, as well as business planning, capital rationing, audit and risk management systems.

Martin held a senior corporate development role, leading a team of analysts at a multi-commodity, African listed mining company. There, he led group-wide business evaluations, also developing business cases for major expansion projects. Commodities covered included: iron ore, manganese ore and alloy, chrome ore and alloy, platinum group metals, coal, nickel and copper.

Martin has also worked with a diamond major where he developed feasibility studies and value based models for major projects and brownfield operations. During this time he also delivered continuous business improvement projects, assessing and maximising operational utilisation, efficiency and cost reduction.
