About Sanjeev
Sanjeev Khemlani leads the Senior Lender practice, advocating for maximum recoveries for his clients by developing solutions to challenging capital structures. Mr. Khemlani has more than 25 years of global experience working in the global credit markets, where he has served as an advisor, arranger, credit officer and investor in areas as diverse as restructuring, special situations investing, and senior and junior debt new issuance.

Mr. Khemlani was appointed to the Board of Managers of Total Safety by the minority equity owners in 2017 and continues in that capacity today. In 2020, Mr. Khemlani was appointed to be a Board Observer of PhyMed Management to represent the lenders’ interests.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting eleven years ago, Mr. Khemlani was a Managing Director with The Blackstone Group’s GSO Capital Partners. During his time at Blackstone, Mr. Khemlani co-founded GSO’s Hong Kong office, with an aim to make investments in senior, mezzanine and distressed debt in the Asia Pacific region. Mr. Khemlani previously worked for Credit Suisse as the head of leveraged finance credit for the Asia Pacific region, where he was tasked with ensuring that complex credit transactions were correctly priced, structured and distributed.
Prior to that, Mr. Khemlani worked at JPMorgan Chase, where he started his career. Mr. Khemlani rose to the rank of Managing Director in the Special Credits group. He was responsible for representing JPMorgan Chase on official and ad hoc creditor committees. In addition, he was the Managing Partner of Special Situations Investing, JPMorgan’s proprietary North American distressed investment fund, which had an initial funding of $200 million, and oversaw the investing of this fund in secondary, bridge and rescue financing situations.
Mr. Khemlani holds a B.S. in entrepreneurial studies and management from Babson College. He is a Certified Turnaround Professional and is a member of the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors and the Turnaround Management Association. He served on Babson College’s Board of Overseers from 2006 through 2013.
