About Stephen H.
Stephen Rosen is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in New York. He is a member of the Global Insurance Services practice in the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment and heads the Pension practice. Mr. Rosen is an Enrolled Actuary and a Fellow of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries with more than 45 years of experience consulting related to retirement plans in the United States. Mr. Rosen's work includes the design, implementation and administration of all forms of qualified employee benefit plans. He also serves as expert witness in support of his clients.
Mr. Rosen's clients have included law firms, accounting firms, actuarial firms, and insurance companies that have used his advice to enhance their own service offerings. Mr. Rosen has also prepared actuarial present value calculations to support settlements and analysis of loss of benefits disputes.
Mr. Rosen is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (1976), an Enrolled Actuary (1976), a Fellow of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (2014), a Certified Pension Consultant (1981), and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (2006).
Mr. Rosen has served in various capacities with the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries, including president (2005), treasurer (2002-2003) and on the board of directors (1998-2003). Mr. Rosen was also past president (1997-2000) and founding board member (1997-2009, 2018-present) of the ASPPA Benefits Council of Greater Philadelphia. He also served on the Board of Directors (2003-2005, 2009-2010) & Executive Committee (2010-2013) of the Academy of Actuaries.
Mr. Rosen has been a frequent speaker and lecturer and has published a number of articles on pension related issues. In addition, Mr. Rosen has been involved as editor, author or co-author in the following publications: Accountant’s Guide to Employee Benefit Plans, (co-author), Warren Gorham & LaMont; The Tax Reform Act of 1984, (co-author), Farnsworth Publishing Company; Taxation for Accountants, The 401 (k) Handbook, “FOCUS” (articles); and Editorial Board, Journal for Financial Services Professionals.
Mr. Rosen holds a B.A. in mathematics from Rutgers University. He completed coursework in business administration from the Wharton School of Business and actuarial science from the University of Iowa.
