Amanda Wu is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in New York. She is a member of the Office of the CFO Solutions practice.
Ms. Wu has more than 14 years of experience providing finance transformation, risk management consulting and public accounting services to large domestic and multi-national companies across various industries including automotive, technology, biotech, manufacturing, consumer products and retail.
Ms. Wu has provided finance function assessment and implementation for a bio services company where she assessed the overall finance functions, including organization and people, transactional processes, monthly close, cash management and FP&A and technology perspectives and implemented improvement solutions in each area. She also performed an FP&A assessment for a global pharmaceutical company, which included reviewing documents and assessing the end-to-end budgeting and forecasting process in order to strengthen internal controls and improve forecast accuracy.
In addition, Ms. Wu has served as interim Corporate Assistant Controller and International Controller for a global technology company. Her areas of responsibilities included overseeing international entities close and reporting, supervising accounts payable process and improving working capital, re-designing intercompany processes and re-designing the future finance organization.
Previously, Ms. Wu led a headcount and payroll analysis project for the largest U.S. car rental company, where she worked with cross-functional teams such as FP&A, HR and payroll and compensation to analyze and identify root causes for misalignment between headcount and payroll for the company’s 20,000+ employees. She also developed solutions which included data cleansing and process re-design.
Ms. Wu has led an accounting process and organization review and implementation of rapid improvement events actions to support the functional readiness for the enterprise research planning (“ERP”) upgrade for a leading steel manufacturing company. This included the record to report process with a focus in payroll and inter-company processes. She also led a finance transformation phase one finance function assessment and road mapping for a clean coal technology company where she assessed current state finance operating model, diagnosed performance gaps in accounting close processes and systems and developed a transformation roadmap.
Furthermore, Ms. Wu has provided standardized and optimized finance accounting (“FA”) processes for a large utility company. The scope of this project included standardization and design of to-be finance processes, gap analysis for pilot provincial branch offices and process documentation review and update.
Ms. Wu led the share service center (“SSC”) implementation and transition project for a large global health care, agricultural and high-tech materials company, where she implemented a new operating model and global activity split and managed the change management process across different business units. She also automated and standardized processes by implementing global enablers.
Ms. Wu has experience leading project management office (“PMO”) efforts for the largest fresh start accounting project as well as a business model change project for some global companies. She also had extensive experiences in enterprise risk assessment, internal control improvement, Sarbanes Oxley Act compliance and internal audit.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Wu was a Senior Manager in Ernst & Young’s Performance Improvement group. Before that, she worked in Protiviti’s Internal Audit Finance Advisory group.
Ms. Wu holds a B.S. in Accounting from Quincy University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
