Asher Cohen is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Los Angeles. He is a member of FTI Capital Advisors, FTI Consulting’s investment banking subsidiary, and the Telecom, Media, Technology (“TMT”) practice. Mr. Cohen specializes in investment banking advisory. His experience includes mergers and acquisition (“M&A”), financings, financial restructurings and fairness opinions.
Mr. Cohen has more than 15 years of investment banking advisory experience to TMT clients. Types of transactions Mr. Cohen has been involved in include sell-side and buy-side M&A, private and public capital markets, fairness and solvency opinions, recapitalizations and financial restructurings. A representative list of Mr. Cohen’s recent transactions include the sale of Doremi Labs to Dolby; the acquisition of Orad TV by Avid Technologies; the sale of DataBank to Avista Capital; the sale of Paetec to Windstream; the acquisition of Pacific crossing by NTT Communications; the sale of Genesys Conferencing to West Corporation; the sale of Dataside to ViaWest; the sale of Dobson to AT&T; the sale of TelCove to Level 3 Communications and the sale of OnFiber Communications to Qwest.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Cohen spent 12 years at Houlihan Lokey, where he led Telecom and Internet Infrastructure coverage within the TMT Group. Prior to that, he served as Director of Corporate Development with IDT Telecom, specializing in mergers and acquisitions. He also was an Associate in the TMT Group of J.P. Morgan Securities in New York, focusing on mergers, acquisitions and other corporate finance transactions.
Mr. Cohen holds a B.S.E.E. (Electrical Engineering) from Tel Aviv University and an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Mr. Cohen holds FINRA Series 7, Series 79 and Series 63 investment banking licenses.
