About Christopher
Christopher Pierce is a Managing Director in the Turnaround & Restructuring practice and specializes in both debtor and creditor-side engagements. He has experience in integrated financial modeling, corporate FP&A, financial statement analysis and reporting and interim management. Mr. Pierce’s industry experience includes oilfield services; engineering and construction; travel and leisure; and chemicals.
In regards to his secured lender work, Mr. Pierce was engaged as an advisor to the secured lenders of Babcock & Wilcox, where he performed financial modeling, covenant forecasting and negotiations, liquidity analysis, asset sale analysis, and capital structure analysis. He also served as an advisor to the steering committee of secured lenders of C&J Energy Services, where he created a sensitized integrated financial model, liquidity analysis, covenant analysis, cash flow analysis and capital structure analysis.
Additionally, Mr. Pierce was engaged as an advisor to the secured lenders of a $2 billion public midstream company, where he built an integrated financial model, liquidity forecasting, collateral analysis and asset sale analysis. Mr. Pierce also advised the secured lending group of a $1 billion public healthcare company by building and sensitizing a financial model to assist with covenant negotiations, liquidity analysis and capital structure analysis. Mr. Pierce also advised the lending group of Patriot Coal, where he analyzed capital structure, liquidity needs, and historical and projected financial performance.
In addition to his secured lender work, Mr. Pierce advised the unsecured creditors committee of Delta Petroleum, where he analyzed projected financial performance, covenant compliance analysis and valuation analysis related to ongoing operations.
In regards to his company-side work, Mr. Pierce was engaged as an interim Director of Corporate FP&A during a carve-out period of a $200 million public agricultural chemical company. In this role, he worked directly for the CFO and was responsible for creating a forecasting model and methodology, weekly/monthly/quarterly report design and implementation, supporting 10Q and 10K filings with analysis and MD&A commentary, and assisting the interim Treasurer with cash flow forecasting. He also served as interim Director of Corporate FP&A of a $12 billion public leisure/transportation company. In this role, he was responsible for creating new analytical tools to evaluate operations, building new standardized reporting across the corporate structure, assisting with the implementation of Hyperion Planning and working directly with senior leaders of the company.
Additionally, Mr. Pierce was engaged as advisor to Hostess Brands, a large domestic baker, where he assisted with various asset sales, specifically regarding intellectual property.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Pierce was a Financial Analyst of FP&A for American Beacon Advisors and a Financial Analyst for American Airlines working in corporate FP&A.
Mr. Pierce holds a B.B.A. in finance from Texas A&M University and an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from Southern Methodist University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and is a member of the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors, Chartered Financial Analyst Institute and the Turnaround Management Association.
