George C. Tlamsa is a Senior Director at FTI Consulting and is based in New York. Mr. Tlamsa is a professional consultant specializing in construction disputes. He has prepared and presented claims on behalf of EPC Contractors, General Contractors, Equipment Suppliers, and Specialty Contractors, and has evaluated and refuted claims on behalf of Owners, Engineers, Contractors and Equipment Suppliers.
Mr. Tlamsa has had in-depth involvement in all aspects of claims resolution, including pre-contract review of plans and specifications, real-time project audits, project scheduling and monitoring, schedule and delay analysis, productivity analysis and report preparation. He has provided these services in various forms of structured dispute resolution, including settlement negotiations, formal mediation, arbitration and litigation.
Mr. Tlamsa has qualified as an expert witness, prepared expert reports, and provided testimony in depositions, arbitration hearings and trials. His recent work has focused heavily on the power industry, where he has analyzed numerous complex delay claims associated with merchant power plant design and construction.
Prior to embarking on consulting work, Mr. Tlamsa worked for ten years in the building construction business in New York. He worked as a Superintendent and Project Manager for a General Contractor on residential and commercial projects in New York City; he then worked for several A/E firms as a Construction Administrator, Drafter and Designer.
Mr. Tlamsa received a B.A. from Columbia University in 1975, and a M.S. from Yale University in 1977. He has lectured on construction management at Columbia University and participated in various seminars and training programs on construction management-related topics.
