Ian Wollman is a Managing Director in the Office of CFO Solutions practice. Mr. Wollman brings 30 years of experience in finance, accounting and management consulting. He has deep expertise leading shared services, outsourcing and finance transformation initiatives. His industry exposure includes warehouse distribution, media and technology, life sciences, real estate, retail and consumer and industrial products.
Mr. Wollman has cross-industry experience helping companies develop a comprehensive vision and strategy for their finance and global business services (“GBS”) organizations. His consulting repertoire consists of GBS, finance transformation, business process outsourcing (“BPO”), system implementation, process reengineering, benchmarking, cost optimization, operating model and organization design projects. Mr. Wollman is adept at counseling his clients on prioritization of roadmap initiatives and building business cases to get support and funding for recommended actions.
On prior consulting engagements, Mr. Wollman led a multifunctional shared services initiative for a warehouse distribution client with $40B in annual revenue and oversaw all phases of the shared services journey, starting with initial vision and site selection and concluding with go-live for the center. He drove approximately $100M in annual savings. Mr. Wollman’s experience also includes driving development of BPO strategy, scope, and implementation approach. He led the finance BPO implementation for a $8B global mining company. On another client matter, he created a retained organization design approach and guided the client finance organization through activities to realign resources. For a major U.S. bank, Mr. Wollman architected a $5M finance and accounting BPO initiative. He partnered with client finance leaders to identify outsourcing scope, document processes and transition work to India.
For a global conglomerate with $146B in annual revenue, Mr. Wollman led a GBS initiative and drove global, multifunctional strategy and design phases for this program. This initiative impacted 30,000 employees and reduced SG&A from 18% to 12% as a percent of revenue. He also spearheaded a GBS assessment for a credit reporting agency with $2B in annual revenue, identifying process improvement areas, developing a roadmap to expand organizational capabilities, aligning business requirements to a long-term strategy and developing an operating model to enable changes.
In addition, Mr. Wollman developed a global finance operating model for a major electronics retailer with nearly $50B in annual revenue. On this engagement, he provided thought leadership on organization structure, process and technology required to support a multinational company and establish finance functions in new geographies. Mr. Wollman also redesigned the controller’s organization for a major Canadian telecommunications device manufacturer. He defined new reporting relationships, wrote job descriptions and reorganized to include shared services.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Wollman’s background included over 10 years in finance and accounting, mostly with GE and over 15 years in management consulting with PwC, Accenture, Deloitte and The Hackett Group. In addition, he has driven transformation initiatives within Fortune 500 companies as BU Controller at Rockwell Automation and as the SVP of Advanced Process Solutions at ManpowerGroup Solutions.
Mr. Wollman’s professional speaking engagements include the Shared Services and Outsourcing Network (SSON) conference, Deloitte Shared Services Midwest Regional Roundtable and the Association of Government Accountants. Mr. Wollman holds a B.Comm. in Finance and Accounting from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada and an M.B.A. from Case Western Reserve University. He is a graduate of GE’s Financial Management Program and is fluent in French.
