About Jim
Jim Scarazzo is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Washington, DC. Mr. Scarazzo is in the computer forensic practice of the Technology segment. Mr. Scarazzo has testified as an expert in computer forensic matters and has extensive experience in the examination of computer systems and media, identification and restoration of data from backup tapes, Microsoft Exchange, collection of data and information from wireless routers, networking, and Active Directory. He is an EnCase Certified Examiner.
With over 25 years of investigative experience, including over 13 years of experience in the computer forensic field, Mr. Scarazzo has lead forensic investigations involving public restatements, theft of intellectual property, file deletion, unauthorized use of company equipment, and employment issues, to name a few. Mr. Scarazzo has designed, implemented, and managed small business networks. Having both industry and investigative experience allows him to quickly evaluate technical issues and develop appropriate courses of action.
Mr. Scarazzo’s industry experience includes the design, implementation, administration, and maintenance of computer networks, including Microsoft Exchange servers. He is an EnCase Certified Examiner and has provided testimony as an expert witness in Courts of Law. He is also certified as an IBM StoredIQ Technical Professional.
Prior to joining the FTI Consulting's Technology consulting group, Mr. Scarazzo served as the Director of Engineering Computer services of the FTI Consulting (now divested) Applied Sciences Division (1999-2002). Mr. Scarazzo had overall responsibility of the direction of technical personal involved with the creation of computer simulations used to explain complex engineering processes in courts of law. He was also responsible for overseeing and development of database, web, and windows based programs to assist in the cataloging and retrieval of data related to claims analyses. Mr. Scarazzo developed several applications for documentation and reporting of disaster investigation and claims analysis.
Mr. Scarazzo served as the Deputy Director of the Civil Engineering Group of the FTI Consulting (now divested) Applied Science Division (ASD) (1991-1999). While employed in that capacity, Mr. Scarazzo conducted over 300 forensic investigations and served as a supporting consultant on numerous others. Mr. Scarazzo led the development of FTI Consulting's proprietary Technical Information Management System, a database application for document, photographic, and evidence tracking. During his tenure with FTI Consulting's ASD, he provided testimony as an expert in several matter on which he was the lead investigator and in both state and federal courts.
