Jeff Truitt is a Senior Managing Director in the FTI Consulting Corporate Finance/Restructuring practice and is based in Los Angeles. Mr. Truitt has more than 25 years of experience dealing with complex business and financial matters, including over 23 years serving as financial advisor to companies, boards of directors, and secured and unsecured creditors in connection with out-of-court financial restructurings, operational turnarounds and Chapter 11 reorganizations.
Mr. Truitt has significant advisory experience with respect to acquisitions, dispositions and debt re-financings involving financially distressed entities and has held interim management roles of troubled companies. He has provided expert witness testimony in numerous Chapter 11 proceedings on a variety of issues, including plan of reorganization feasibility, key employee retention and incentive plans, cash collateral, debtor-in-possession financing, liquidation analyses and section 363 asset sales.
Mr. Truitt’s advisory experience spans across many industries, including gaming; hospitality; restaurant; food and beverage; retail; air cargo; filmed entertainment; broadcasting; real estate; manufacturing; financial services; toy and giftware; municipalities and non-profits. Select clients include Herbst Gaming; Riviera Holdings; The Majestic Star Casino; Sizzler International; Komag; Black Gaming; Aladdin Gaming; Diedrich Coffee; Fitzgeralds Gaming; WKS Restaurant Corporation; Stratosphere Corporation; Pearson PLC; Resort at Summerlin; Hemdale Film Corporation and the Archdiocese of Portland.
In addition, Mr. Truitt has advised many secured lenders, bondholder groups and official unsecured creditors’ committees in out-of-court restructurings and Chapter 11 reorganization engagements. Furthermore, Mr. Truitt’s advisory experience includes participating as a senior member of the financial advisory team that guided Orange County, California through its Chapter 9 bankruptcy reorganization, one of the largest municipal bankruptcy proceedings in U.S. history. In addition, he has been appointed and served as examiner in large Chapter 11 proceedings, including Washington Group International, formerly known as Morrison Knudsen Corporation, an international engineering and construction firm; and Fontainebleau Las Vegas Holdings, the developer and owner of a multi-billion dollar mega-resort and casino development project located along the Las Vegas strip.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Truitt was principal at XRoads Solutions Group. Before that, he was a senior managing director at Mesirow Financial Consulting. Earlier in his career, Mr. Truitt was a partner in the Corporate Restructuring practices at KPMG and Arthur Andersen.
Mr. Truitt previously held NASD registered license 7 from 1984 to 1986. He is a Certified Turnaround Professional and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor.
