Jennifer L. Wollenberg is a Senior Director at FTI Consulting in the Environmental Solutions practice, and is based in the Wayne, PA office. Dr. Wollenberg’s expertise includes evaluating the fate and transport of mercury and other chemicals, including geochemical transformations in the environment, ecological risk and impacts on ecosystem processes. In recent years, she has provided testifying and consulting expert services related to environmental impacts, permitting disputes and cost allocation.
Dr. Wollenberg is currently serving as an expert advisor and team leader for technical studies in support of multiple CERCLA cost allocation assignments, often involving contaminated urban rivers or waterways located throughout the United States. For these matters, Dr. Wollenberg supports mediation or arbitration proceedings where complex factual histories relating to industrial discharges and resulting impacts on environmental conditions and remediation costs must be thoroughly evaluated to produce a neutral cost allocation recommendation.
Dr. Wollenberg has spent the past 18 years evaluating the effects of chemical contaminants on environmental systems. Her project experience includes characterizations of physical, chemical, and biological conditions at sites subject to regulation under Federal programs such as CERCLA and the Clean Water Act, as well as State programs for environmental cleanups and natural resource permitting. She has extensive experience conducting scientific investigations with a focus on generating high quality data, completing rigorous data analysis, and producing clear, comprehensive deliverables that meet project needs.
Dr. Wollenberg holds a Bachelor's degree in biology from Drew University and both Masters and Doctoral degrees in earth & environmental sciences from Lehigh University. Her graduate research focused on geochemistry of metals, particularly mercury, in lakes and wetlands. While at Lehigh University, Dr. Wollenberg instructed undergraduate level lecture and laboratory courses. She has also completed additional training in risk assessment at Delaware Valley University as well as the Harvard University School of Public Health.
