Jeremy McGannon is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Chicago. Mr. McGannon works in FTI Consulting’s Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment and has more than ten years of financial and consulting experience. Mr. McGannon specializes in forensic accounting matters including financial investigations, commercial damage analysis, financial misstatement fraud and asset tracing. Mr. McGannon is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and is also Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). Mr. McGannon has testified as an expert witness regarding his work on forensic accounting matters.
Mr. McGannon has conducted financial investigations into alleged asset misappropriation (often involving flow of funds analysis and asset tracing) and alleged financial misstatement fraud (often encompassing an investigation into a company’s accounting practices). Mr. McGannon has led complex flow of funds analyses, comprising of the examination of bank statements, wire transaction records, and other financial information to recreate and demonstrate a complex movement of funds between numerous individuals and companies, both domestically and internationally.
Mr. McGannon also has significant experience in post-acquisition disputes and other commercial damages matters. Mr. McGannon has provided expert consulting on matters involving whether certain financial statements were prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP, and also on matters such as working capital calculations, earnouts, and other financial statement misrepresentation claims. Mr. McGannon has conducted complex damage analyses resulting from alleged fraud, alleged breaches of certain representations and warranties provided in a stock or asset purchase agreement, and other breach of contract claims.
Mr. McGannon has been featured as a guest speaker on forensic accounting at the University of Missouri and DePaul University. Additionally, Mr. McGannon has presented on topics such as financial statement accounting, merger and acquisition disputes, and economic damages to national audiences. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. McGannon worked in the external audit practice at Deloitte.
