Jon Earl is a Managing Director in the EMEA Strategic Communications division and is based in Dubai, UAE. He has 20 years’ experience of advising companies, organisations and individuals on their communications strategies.
At FTI Consulting, he advises and has advised a wide range of businesses, organisations and semi-government institutions based within the Middle East region. He has recently advised a Dubai based government organisation on the IPO of one of its most high profile subsidiaries. He has also advised Bahrain’s SWF, Mumtalakat, owner of a wide range of government owned assets, on all aspects of its stakeholder engagement. He currently advises Ooredoo, the Qatari state owned telecoms operator with assets across North Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia, on its global financial communications and issues management. He has also advised several Islamic finance institutions through precedent setting situations including Investment Dar’s restructuring and Arcapita’s Chapter 11 process.
Before joining FTI in the Middle East, Jon advised a number of high profile financial services firms based in the UK through reputation critical issues whilst working for a specialist crisis communications management consultancy. Clients included Prudential, RBS Investment Banking, Bank of Ireland, Better Capital and Perella Weinberg.
Prior to joining FTI, Jon led Vodafone Group’s European communications, a role in which he managed and developed communications strategies and stakeholder engagement programmes to manage Vodafone’s reputation and to support its public policy and regulatory agenda. Working closely with Vodafone’s global public policy and regulatory teams, Jon delivered communications strategies across Europe which informed and shaped public policy and regulatory agendas at the national and supra-national level. Issues included spectrum re-farming, inter-connect pricing, roaming pricing and content standards. He established Vodafone’s Brussel’s public policy communications strategy to manage Vodafone’s position in a wide range of strategic issues relevant to Vodafone and the European telecoms sector.
He holds a BA Hons in Politics from Exeter University and is a UK SFA Registered Representative.
