Karen Hulme is a Managing Director in the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting and is based in London. She works in the Employee Engagement & Change Communications practice.
Karen has worked in the field of learning and organisational development since the mid 1990s. During this time she has project managed, designed and delivered management and leadership development programmes for a wide range of global clients including: The Royal Opera House, Meggitt, Rotork, Close Bros, AkzoNobel and Premier Foods.
She is an Internal Verifier for the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and has led a range of client programmes leading to this professional qualification.
Karen is an experienced coach and uses psychometric and 360 profiling tools to support coaching sessions. She especially enjoys coaching managers and leaders who are in career or role transitions – often as a result of strategic change within their organisation.
Karen has designed and supported the implementation of new performance management systems; talent development programmes and assessment and development centre approaches and brings psychological rigour; strong academic underpinning and practicality to these areas of her work.
Prior to FTI Consulting, Karen was Head of Capability Development at Hemsley Fraser where she was responsible for developing the consulting team in new approaches to L&D and learning design and delivery. Before this she led the learning design and management development teams whilst at the same time supporting her clients including Rolls Royce; Sky, McAfee, RBS, Aviva and Cambridge University Press.
During Karen’s early career she worked for First National Bank leading their graduate placement programme including their recruitment, placement and development; designing and delivering the company management development programme and leading HR and L&D change projects.
Outside of work Karen works as a volunteer archaeologist on the Thames Discovery Project with the Museum of London, putting to use her archaeology master’s degree.
