About Kurt
Kurt Eichhorn specializes in the chemicals industry. He has over 25 years of consulting and corporate experience, transforming businesses through organic growth, merger and acquisitions, operational improvement, back office consolidation and restructuring.
Mr. Eichhorn has extensive experience across the full transaction life cycle, both as a consultant and in corporate development roles. He has led operational due diligence and synergy valuation teams for regional and cross-border transactions up to $8 billion in enterprise value. This has also included defining and valuing optimal divestment scenarios to address regulatory issues. He has managed divestment processes, facilitated merger processes, negotiated complex purchase and sales agreements, TSAs and has completed numerous transactions.
Mr. Eichhorn has also supported clients to organically grow their businesses. He developed a strategy to transform a company by using proprietary technology and idled assets, resulting in board approval for a $650 million capital investment. He developed a digital strategy, business case and implementation roadmap to transform a $2 billion division of a chemical company with B2B and B2C channels, whereby the client approved a $50 million multi-year transformation program.
Mr. Eichhorn’s operational improvement experience includes identifying $30 million in procurement cost savings for a distribution company, using a digital platform to accelerate the implementation. He identified $90 million in annual manufacturing cost reduction through operational and strategic actions for an industrial company. He has also worked with clients to transform their back offices through new operating models, including shared services and outsourcing. He supported a client in setting up their own captive shared services capability with $40 million in identified cost savings and worked with a newly spun out company on the set up of their back-office capabilities, resulting in a 30% cost savings.
On behalf of a DIP Lender, Mr. Eichhorn worked with the management team to take necessary actions to generate $120 million in incremental cash flow, allowing the company to successfully exit bankruptcy. He also turned around a business unit facing a 40% loss in sales, serving as the business leader for five months. During this time, he reduced products and restructured commercial and technical functions to focus on profitable growth.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Eichhorn was the Strategy and M&A Leader of the North American Chemicals practice at Accenture. He previously served as a Senior Vice President of General Electric, Director at Arthur D. Little and Senior Restructuring Consultant. He started his career with Dow Chemical in technical and commercial roles.
